Tech Transfer, Commercialisation, and Industry Partnerships
There are a number of teams in the university that can support your plans for tech transfer, commercialisation and industry partnerships
Cambridge Enterprise
Cambridge Enterprise focuses on supporting the commercialization of university research and innovations. It helps academics, researchers, and students turn their ideas and discoveries into impactful ventures by offering services like intellectual property management, licensing, consultancy, and startup support. Its goal is to facilitate knowledge transfer and generate economic and social benefits from academic expertise.

Institute for Biomedical Innovation
The Institute for Biomedical Innovation (IBI) opened in March 2026 as a one-stop-shop for medical device research, scale-up and translation. The IBI helps researchers turn early-stage medical technologies into safe, sustainable, clinically-ready devices. It provides access to a state-of-the-art prototyping facility equipped for microfabrication, device assembly, and biological testing. In addition, an innovation support programme is being developed, which will guide researchers from academia and industry through the translational pathway including sustainability requirements, quality management, clinical trial design, and regulatory approval.
